2nd Trip to Palau Kukup

Not a fantasticallybreath-taking place nor does it has strips of shopping belts. But being there with people whom you love and care about, makes it a worth-while trip nonetheles.

2nd trip to Palau Kukup brings back memories of the 1st trip with the Girls. And this time round, I get to have my own Fireworks again! The only place I know so far, that allows me to play with Fireworks. Exciting and exhilarating... Beautiful but short-living. Live it before dying. =)

One of the evenings when I'm back home from work, my dad exclaimed that the night scene outside my house was really beautiful. A bright streak of light settled at the background, just before the Sun sets thoroughly. This definitely called for a Photo-Moment in my opinion! lovely... Isn't it?

Chanced upon a great pic when I was googling for Bali. I wonder when will I be able to take great pics like this. Aren't the colours superb??

Then I started thinking.. if I'll ever wanna travel alone. I've been asked this question a couple of times. And I always said "No" coz I think at least one companion will be ideal. Someone whom you can turn to and exclaim "Isn't this beautiful?" And I hate eating alone. I think I'll drive myself into depression if I ever had to be alone for a period of time (say 3 days?).

But suddenly tonight, I started re-evaluating this possibility. IF I will ever wanna travel alone. And if I do, where will I want to go? hmmmmmmm....... ok. I don't have the answer now. But I'll think.. and see if I can ever find an answer. =)

What I love about Friday Nights

What I love about Friday nights (just like the one which past), are spending time with friends to catch up on each other's lives & pour all our grievances out. Especially after a long and tiring week.... =)

I'm blessed to have friends who are willing to hear my complaints & remind me to chill and relax.

Saturday was a "Me" time. A time-out which I spent cutting hair, doing Mother's Day shopping and Spa massage for 1 1/2 hrs. It felt great and rejuvenating. Listening to music & reading my book in the train; pace myself to each destination & not having to hurry nor to wait. But of coz I love to have companions too but once in a while, "Me" time is fantastic!

Cheers to a busier week ahead! yeahh...

Current Status: Chilling at home after work and I'm downloading all the "Song of the Day" sent by my colleague.
One good song every day from Mon to Fri... It's really getting addictive. =)

Ok, current status: Single & Available. haha. Not complicated, not in a relationship & definitely not married. I'm getting really thankful that I'm single, especially now. Been told by far too many that it's better to be single, than to be married. Well, it takes one to be in it to know. Besides, grass is always greener on the other side. Not that I wanna to be married. GOSH NO... But you get the drift.

And the latest I've learnt? You don't always marry the guy you love. You may just marry him coz he's stable. But of coz you get your classic, happily ever after love stories now and then. But now I'm starting to think why get married then? Just coz he's stable? I mean isn't it better to be single, happy, and stable on your own? I'm sounding like an old spinster here. shucks...

Last check: My heart thumps for no one now.

But whenever I meet some "untouchables", I start to think if I'll ever fall for someone like that. Some are cute, some are smart, some are humorous, some are shy... But at the end of the day, I think they're desirable coz they're untouchable. hiaks. Such is life. What you can't have, is always better.. right? =P

My Swing

Yester-night, I dreamt that I went to a place with lots of swings...
A big field with one whole row of different types of swings.
And I felt so so happy.
I chose a red wooden swing...

And I woke up this morning, thinking, why did I had such a dream..

I found the answer tonight.

Just a moment ago, I recalled my childhood time...
He would bring me to the playground near my house, or at my cousin's house, to sit on my favourite swing.
And he would push me. I would always want him to push harder, so that I can go higher up.
"How high do you want to go?" He would ask.

Penang Plus Mystery Gift

Despite it being a short flight (an hour) to Penang, I saw some amazing views onboard the flight and couldn't stop snapping away.

There's really nothing much to see in Penang. All it entails is great delicious, glorious good food. And I stuff myself with loads of them. Despite it being a super short getaway, I feel more recharged.

Temple visits.. Quite a number of these. But set against such nice settings, I don't mind visiting more of such temples. =)

Weekends are just too short, we just have to make the best use out of it.
You know what I love most on weekends? Channel surfing and finding a perfect movie/ program!
Accidentally came cross this movie on HBO "Freedom Writers" starring Hillary Swank and I absolutely love it! It talked about racism and class disparity in the US society.

Orchard Ion? Been there, done that. Too crowded to find anything fruitful but I love the Sephora there! Told JS that it reminded me of the Sephora in Paris... =)

Today's 2nd day of August. Doesn't everyone just love August? ooh... maybe it's just me. *grinz* Gonna be away for the long weekend. A short trip to Penang - stuff myself ridiculous with good food. OH yay! Pity that my sis's away for a last min biz trip and can't join us in Penang. Nvm! work hard and bring me back my pressie... =D

I reckon I sounded too harsh and angry during my last post.
But I think I've never felt so antagonised before. This's probably the 1st road block in my life and I'm determined to get through it no matter what.

Life's been slightly better. Maybe just coz I've learnt to become numb about the situation. Or perhaps my optimism's kicking back in and I'm learning to take this whole ordeal as if it's a joke. Anyway, I think it's just plain madness.

I should be talking about happier things happening in my life, instead of making myself sound like I've got no life outside of work. haha.

Planning for holiday trips for eg, is one thing I love to do best!
Especially the Hanoi trip with the NP girls... That's gonna be a first long trip out with them and I can't believe we took so long to make this trip happen. Excited nonetheless!! That's much planning to be done.

When enough is almost enough, I give myself a break. And I think I feel loads better after a fruitful weekend.

I took Fri off to see a doc and went SHOPPING!~ Spent quite abit but I got my needs and satisfied my wants:
- a pair of sports shoes (NEED)
- a pair of heels (NEED - just coz the other heels are breaking apart)
- a skirt (NEED - my working skirts' choices are getting too limited coz I'm buying too many dresses)
- a jacket (ok, this's a WANT - I bgt it just coz I think it's pretty. =P )

Weekends should be spent doing what I like to do best - shopping/hanging out with friends/ playing with my camera, snapping pics/ watching sunset/ KTV/ you-tubing....

Breaking Point

Yesterday at work, we spent the whole day doing Mid-yr Biz review.

When that's finally, it's FUN-TIME! Imagine free food, free beer and karaoke!

I never knew that some of my colleagues can get so crazy, given their age that is. it's hilarious watching them getting so high and singing as though they were rock singers. My cheeks went numb at all the laughing.. and thx to alcohol, I think I got abit high and went up to sing as well. hahaha... One of my fave oldies "That thing you do" coz I learnt it from Crescent days. =P hahaha.

Anyway, the HK trip was definitely fulfilling. Loads of eating and walking, I think it kinda balanced out. Thanx to Miwa dearie for keeping us company through the trip but I guess it's more mutual coz we're keeping her days in HK filled too! =P

Work's gonna gear up a notch very soon and I must also prep myself for it. Just past one year in the company, and I must say I'm still liking it very much. Whatever happens, I set my mind to deal with whatever situations I may face. =)

Awful long break

3 months into 2009 and I'm quite beaten.

I've to look somewhere in my bag for my reserve AAA batteries to keep myself charged. Unmotivated. I'm probably not the only one to feel this way. Like what one of my friends said, everything/ everyone seems to be in a frustrating mood.

Random Happenings:

I'm learning new things in 2009! Golf for one. And patience for another. The latter takes so much more effort. ha.

I'm hooked onto the Twilight series. Thanx Ade for lending me the "no longer in print" 3rd and 4th book. For without those books, I'll prob start searching in amazon.com or pester my bro in law to comb all the book stores in USA to get his hands on them. =P

I've got a new lappie. A pretty pink ASUS laptop. All those other specs don't really matter. It's pretty, that's what I like.

My sis bgt a new car. Camry in Black. Not gonna see it till End May/ June. I'll miss the red Mazda 3 when it's gone.....

I'm planning a trip to HK - Gd Fri wkend! Time for my well deserved break... Off to see dear Miwa with the bunch of marketers. This should be fun. and this time round, I wanna see a different side of HK. Oh yes! We're planning to do a hike! A simple trail I certainly hope.

Hoping that I can go Boracay with my sis and bro-in-law. Have heard much about this beautiful island in the Philippines. Let's see if I can finally see it with my own eyes.

Anyway, I'm sure something good will happen eventually, as long as you are determined. eventually.. A test of patience, yet again... =)

Guessed I've missed out blogging on the last day of 2008 and rounding the year up. But it's never too late.

2008 has been a fantastic year for me...
One most fruitful and satisfying year and I can count my blessings, thanks to my loved ones - family and friends, who made the year an unforgettable one.

Before this already fruitful year ended, I bought myself a gift, a self-gift.
Anyone wanna make any guess as to what that might be? hehe.

2008 was a special year coz things happened and made changes that caused rippling effects. I liked how things turned out so no regrets. =D

Looking forward to a better 2009! One I'm unsure how things will turn out to be but I'm determined to make it a better one than 2008.
And like what I said to the rest yday, I want good health for everyone and myself included!!!!~

Matthew Boy!

For my sis's wedding, her good friend, Sylvia, specially flew down from Philippines with her family, to attend the wedding lunch.
And for some who knows, Sylvia's son is actually my sis's god-son.
His name is Matthew.

3 yrs back when I went to Manila, that was the 1st time I saw him and I thought he's just so adorable & bubbly, just like her mum... =D

I remembered that he loved "water fountain" and pronounced it as "water pound-tent". hahaha...

That was Matthew then, when he was 2 yrs old. Near his fave "water pound-tent".

And this is him NOW, at 5 yrs old... Still so cute and still loving water fountains...

On 22nd Nov, I saw the celebratory of my sister marrying her one true love and it's soooo sweeeeet......

This's probably one of the simplest loves I've seen.
No need for complications.

Of late, my family seems to be basking in happiness...
Everything seems brighter, chirpier and lighter...
My Dad starts singing.
My Mum starts coming up with her childish acts.

Even the little puppy's acting a little weird..... (hint: it doesn't come with red ribbons...)

Then I start seeing movements in the placement of furnitures, and the rubbish in my room gone out of the way, & the kitchen sparkling clean.

And you ask me why's that so?
What's the occassion??

Here's the reason.....

Coz my sis's getting married!!!!!! Well, technically in the eyes of the law, she IS married.

But this Sat's the actual traditional wedding. So YAH!!!!! This's the real reason to all the changes! hahaha.....

Maybe I should dedicate a post just to my sista.She's worth it..... =D Coz it's a special and dearest bond I share with no one else but her.

I've not had my life easy as the younger and weaker younger sister.I rem those days in Pri sch when I've to be tutored by her for Maths & get scolded umptless times for being "slow" & "just not getting it". Honestly, I really hated her back then.& I secretly hypothesize that she's the sole reason why I detest Mathematics. hehe.

& there're also times when I've to put through her throwing tantrums & times when she's so unpredictable, I nv really knew when I've stepped on her toes.

But of coz we share lots of sisterly moments together too. Things only my sis and I can do together. For eg, times when we both fight to sit/lie/sleep on the sofa in the living room so that we can have the best view of the TV. And times when we talk rubbish together while lying on the bed at night, till we both fall asleep (most of the times she'll fall asleep 1st).

Well, growing up with her by my side, is simply a bliss.It always comes naturally for me to share everything with her in my life.& I don't know if my sis talks about me the same way I like to share with my friends about her.For those who know me well enough, you know that I literally gush about her all the time...

I've always been proud of her, & I love & respect her. She's the best (probably) sister I can ask for. Simply coz she dotes on me. & she taught me alot about generousity, filiality, how I should take things easy in life, having passion for my work (& not putting $$ ahead of passion) & enjoying what I do.& it's makes tough times alot easier when I know I can always count on her to be there for me.Well, what more can I ask for in a sister, right?

And today's her birthday!! so HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! The last birthday she's celebrating as a singleton. Just a simple bday celebration at Jumbo Seafood but I thought it's special coz she had the company of her loved ones - her husband, her family and her god-son & good friend from Philippines!

Back from Seoul

Seoul (Soul) is where the heart lies...

I'm back!! Oh yah! I was gone for a week actually, if you didn't know.
After a 7 days break, I'm back from Korea.
My 2nd trip to Korea but this time round, I covered more than Seoul city.
I was at Cheju, Daegu and Muju.

It was a good break but I had to rush from cities to cities every night and this kinda tired me out.
But at least the food was fantastic! We had a wide variety of food selection for every meal.
Yummy!! The shopping in Korea is expensive, the only comfort I can find is in Cosmetics!
Face Shop, Skin Food, Etude! ALL of them! wahaha.. but of coz I nv knew I can go so crazy at a cosmetic shop. and Jamie's guilty of that too! It's ridiculously cheap in Korea!
OH! And my family bgt back 2 boxes of seaweed, 1 box of kimchi - equivalent to 6kg of kimchi.
oh yes, 6 kg!! Anyone wants some? let me know!!

And when I thought everything will end smoothly when I have touched down at Changi Airport, I was wrong... My luggage came out from the conveyor belt crippled... One of the wheels have fallen off!! What's wrong with them? Why do they always pick my luggage once again? As if twice of lost baggage and twice of broken baggage aren't enough (accumulative frm all my previous trips), they had to take my wheel away?? ARGHHH!!!!! But of coz being the expert, I went straight away to the office to demand for repair! That kinda ends the trip for me.

While everyone else were sound asleep back at the chalet, 3 silly fools stood awake for the whole night, just waiting for the time to catch the Sunrise. Who are these fools?!

Oh!! there you go! That's ME, JAMIE and DAN!!~ wahahaha...

We had no idea what time's the Sunrise and we weren't even sure if we'll catch sight of any Sunrise coz we thought it'll be kinda blocked.

But despite all of the above, we still decided to walk out of our chalet at almost 6am, to the beach to try our luck.

We sat at the bench for almost 20min, waiting and waiting... At this time, Dan and Jamie were almost gone.. Then I tried to encourage them by saying, hmmm.. I think somewhere at the far horizon, the sun's rising coz I could see some reddish, orangy color..

Then finally at 6.20am, I decided to stand up and walk out towards the water and saw that even though we can't see the Sun perse, the horizon was breaking into beautiful colors - red, orange, purple and blue...

Nice yah?! Even though we didn't get the see the Big egg yolk!

It was probably one of the most hectic weekend for me coz of the last min sampling exercise we decided to do with SPH. Was at work on Fri night till 7.30pm so I missed my trip's briefing. bohoo... & I made Jamie wait outside my office for quite some time. paiseh...

Then Fri night was spent busy co-ordinating work stuff.. Sat morning, I went back to work for 2 hrs. & when I thought everything's okie, I rvc a call abt a small screw up and had to made several phonecalls to settle the problem.. All these made me miss my friend's church wedding..... =/ so sad... But luckily, I made it for her wedding dinner at Raffles Country Club!!!

tadah!!! That's Vonne, the beautiful bride!!! (Yvonne but I call her Vonne for short). I've known her for the longest!! Since Pri 1, we were in the same class for 6 straight years!!!!

When they were playing the photo montage, she actually added in a pic I took with her and Peiyi, when we were in Pri 3 back at Botanical Gardens! Looking at the pic, I totally don't recall taking that photo. So I asked Peiyi and she said she could rem and she even had that particular photo!! But poor me, I don't recall a thing! I don't even rem having the ugly red hat I was wearing in the photo! Peiyi took a shot of the pic. GASPS!!!!!!!!

Anyway, I just wanna say that we go all the way back, and seeing her at her wedding brings back fond memories of us back in Kellock. Those were special moments....... =)

And of coz I had great time catching up with June (left) and Peiyi (right). Rem our date during X'mas, to a Teochew restaurant, to have our Oo Ni!!!!!!!!!

We all have grown older

It's Monday, start of a new week once again...
My weekend in a line... We've all grown older.
Lack of sleep for 2 nights and I spent my whole day stoning away at work.
This is bad...

It was Chalet with the Mkt over the weekend and we had a blast!
basically slacking our way through the 2 nights.
Then it was night cycling to Geylang, a 1 1/2 hrs ride away.
And now, we are happy with Supper at Siglap - a short 10min ride away.
Gosh... I'm definitely not complaining here.
I wouldn't have survived a 3 hrs ride to and fro.

Didn't sleep on Sat night just to catch the sunrise at ECP.
Hmmm... it was a mess (in a gd way) of orange, pink, red and purple cloud... Beautiful!!! Pics to be up soon.

Then Sunday morning and noon was spent recuperating on the loss of sleep. Evening with spent was my NP girls, celebrating CF and RJ birthday (belated). Though I spent most of the time stoning away, time spent with the girls are always enjoyable.

Work's been piling up and some times it's so draining.
But I'm still loving it so no regrets.
That being said, I'm glad to be taking a short break end Sep.

There's so much to be looking forward to in Oct, Nov and Dec.
GOSH!! 2008's gonna be over so SOONNN....
But this's a much better yr compared to last.
Let's cross our fingers and hope for it to stay this way. =)

Happy 43rd Birthday, Singapore!!~

It was my first time going to the NDP and it was so exciting (despite the heavy drizzle). It's amazing to see almost everyone dressed in red. Thanx to Jamie for the tickets! I had the most wondering 9th August ever!! YAY!!

Singapore skyline can be quite beautiful at times. The CBD area as the background setting against the waterfountain.

I thought the Black Knights' performance was fantastic! Always thought that they just make loud noises but seeing them flying so close is quite exhilarating!

And of coz, the sweetest "Love" of all. They made a heart shape in the sky!

And finally, the party of 6 who had much fun together, and enduring the rain together!! haha

The Perfect Wedding

Nothing but the sweetest wedding ceremony I've been to... I thought it was perfect. Just the way Summer wants it to be.

Such a special and unique wedding... They actually had their own "Our Fairytale" Song!!! Lyrics by Summer and Tune by Xavier. They even recorded it in the Recording Studio. And during their 2nd March-in, they sang their song and walked in. It's the sweetest ever!!~~~ Awwww.... Honestly, at certain parts of the ceremony, I actually felt like tearing.. =)

It was Summer's wedding yesterday!! Finally D-Day has arrived and it was simply the best! With the theme name "Fairytale", guests were expected to turn up dressed to the theme. There were some really sporting guests who dressed up as Hercules, Captain Hook and I think I spotted Aladdin too. hehe. But for the rest of us ahem... we were still the reserved Sporeans.

BUT I did make an effort coz Mitch brought me this....

My 1st birthday gift this year arrived 2 months earlier and from an unexpected someone. ha... And it came as a surprise! And it's something I've wanted for a long long time! Commendable effort I must say. An extra point for you. =D

The sister's moved out! First day officially, the entire room belongs to moi and me alone! Now I've got 2 houses to toggle in between. Quite a cool idea, isn't it?

Realized I've not been blogging since my last post about leaving OMD.
Been busy catching up with my new job, old friends and current life.
Of coz spending quality time with my family...

And I've been so lazy.. to even post up pics abt the events that happened over the past few wkends. Pardon me. It must be the weather. =)

Anyway, I should have probably said this earlier. CONGRATS SUMMER!!~
My bestest friend in OMD just got married (ROM) on the 26th Apr!!
3rd bestie over in a short span of a year to get hitched.
Definitely a touching moment when you hear your friends say "I do!"
I'm soooo...... happy for you girl!!
All the efforts put in were definitely worthwhile.
But most importantly, I know you both will make such a perfect couple. =D

And now I'm starting to source for a wedding gift for my sis...
Really trying to get her sth unique coz she's so special to me.
I'm even thinking of getting sth from abroad. But to do that, I probably will go really broke. haha. Any suggestions anyone? Pls lemme know.

Last Day at OMD

So Friday was my last day over at OMD...

Totally touched by what my colleagues had planned for me. Love the big bouquet of flowers which they secretly left at the reception and asked our receptionist to call me to pick it up. And they left it nameless but of coz I knew at once that it must be them who bgt it for me. Lovely flowers!!~

It's always sweet to know that there'll be pple who will miss you once you're leaving. I'll miss them dearly too... And trust me, we shall meet up for our secret meeting okie? *winkz*

So many special pple I'll miss...

Definitely Summer!! We both went into OMD on the same day. We share everything about ourselves and I'm always glad that I found a true friend in her. Definitely the 1st person I'll miss.

My dear Mrs World, Joey, who shares the same interest in photo-whoring. I can always count on her to be camera-ready. Anytime and anywhere. You've got such a sweet smile!!~ =)

Angelina, my fellow Leo & planner for Marina Square, CEO of Mind Your Paper. haha. Always think that we share alot in common and I wonder if it's coz we're both August babies. Love her silliness and sacarsim. And pls dun step on her toes. Coz all Leos bite! Right Ange??

Vera, my dearest "back-stabber" coz she sits just right behind me. haha. Really appreciate her help given when I first joined OMD coz she taught me so much! and I'm always touched by her genuine concern for me. She's forever 18 by the way. haha. ~Home Sweet Home!!~

Welcome myself home!!

Rounding up the 15 days trip, it was fantastic & almost close to perfect. Was at Cape Town and then we did the Garden Route before flying to Joburg.

For anyone who's a big Nature Lover, I'm 100% sure that you'll love Cape Town as much as I do. Despite it being my 2nd trip to Cape Town, it's easy to fall in love with the city, yet again. Simply coz it has everything that you'll wanna see in a perfect scenery setting. The great big sun (always sunshine), the clear blue blue sky (sometimes cloudy but still against a blue sky), the stars, the rainbows (yah, I saw 4 rainbows! not at the same time, duh?), the mountains, the valleys, the sand, sea, beach! And I can't forget about the animals! Gosh... those who know me well enough should know my fear for the 4 legged animals but they're actually quite cute! I'm totally cited up by the fact that I got to do a Safari trip in Joburg. and I caught a glimpse of the lions!! and I heard them ROAR! It's almost like straight out from a Animal Planet documentary...

And I must say I saw a different side of the country, coz I did a township tour - where they bring us to visit the township where many (and I mean like 1+ million pple staying in ONE town) blacks & colored Africans stayed in. Their living conditions appalled me and made me cherish more of what I have. & the kids living there.. ahh.. the kids... so adorable!! Think many of them had never seen a Chinese so they were playing around with my fingers even! haha. Guess I might have looked like an ailen to them. =P

So for whoever who simply loves Nature and can survive 2 wks odd w/o much shopping (coz there's really nth much to buy), I'm certain that you'll love South Africa as much as I did!

Irene's Wedding - Total Princessy

Was at Irene's wedding on Saturday night, held in Mandarin Oriental.
But the dumb me, actually mixed up Marina Mandarin and Oriental.
Anyway, ended up getting lost but eventually found my way in time.
and guess what? I was the 1st the arrive from my department. ha...

and it was almost like a media event, clients/ media-owners and one particular celebrity - Allan Wu. Everyone was pretty formally dressed since it was written in the wedding invitation that the dress code's "Formal". Usually nobody really cares about the dress code, but somehow, this time round, it was quite the opposite. Anyway, nice to see everyone dolled up. almost like a mini D&D. hehe.

This's the Oriental Ballroom. Love the deco! Grand and pretty. And I think the food totally rocked! Definitely worth the cost of more than one grand per table. There were a total of TEN DISHES with 2 desserts.

Agree that the past 2 weeks had been alittle surreal.
Everything just happened within a quick span of 2 weeks.
Now, I know that everything can only turn out to be better.

I think I can break up my events in periods of 2 weeks.
2 weeks then, 2 weeks later, and then another 2 weeks after.

But till 2 wks later, i've to survive the next week.
YES! I can do it.

Considering how terrible the past month had been for me, I'm even more determined to end off my 2007 with only the happy moments.

2 hrs away from Christmas Day and I'm feeling truly happy...

Take a peek into the reasons why...

Wanna say this once and never to mention it again.

I'm typing this out as though I'm reading out loud what ever that goes though my mind and heart.

Read my thoughts like an open book..

Over the past 6 weeks, more often that I liked, I felt beaten.

Trust me, it's such a lousy feeling when you can't control things that happen in your life.

There were alot of moments when I bit my tongue and pinched my arm, hoping that I'll wake up from this nightmare.

But I'm grateful for the family and friends who stood by me during this low point in my life.

I count my own blessings and I'm thankful.

I've always known that my family will stand firm next to me.

However, I felt ashamed for having to put my Dad and Mum through this with me.

For they've grown old and I've thought I should be their support by now.

My Dad, the one who seldom display affections towards us, held and hugged me so many times.

My Mum, the one kept reassuring me that everything will be fine just before I entered the operation room.

My Sis, the one who threw aside her work (despite this being her peak period) and flew back to see me. Her msg "I can be there for you" moved me to tears.

This ordeal also made me more affirmed of those whom I deemed as my true friends.

Just when I'm most vulnerable, I'm so glad I had you guys with me.

My NP girls and Mkt friends who showered me with care and concern.

And I'm genuinely touched by my colleagues.

I knew for sure they aren't just my superficial friends but those who truly care about me.

And of coz there are friends out of the NP, Mkt and OMD gang who had touched me with their sincerities. I know who you are... =)

So this Christmas, I wanna thank all of you...

For simply being there for me.

20 days on

It's been 20 days since my last post. 20 days on...

I am back at work on the 13th.

It really feels great/ relieved to be back at work.Considering the amt of laughter everyday, I'm surprised my wound doesn't hurt abit. haha..

Great catching up with my colleagues (I rather call them friends than colleagues) but it's easier to differentiate them this way. Every working day at OMD is filled with laughter. I love it! and everyone's in a holiday mood. No one wanna work... Long lunches (opps...), tea breaks, holding X'mas celebrations, exchanging gifts. Who wouldn't enjoy?!

Went crazy shopping.. literally.

Walked up and down the Orchard belt limitless of times.

But I feel happyyyy...

Burnt a BIG hole in my pocket but I had fun shopping for my loved ones.

I think holding a check-list and go bonkers choosing pressies for friends/ family is a lovely task.

okie, aside from omitting your name from the list.

no idea why your name isn't in there. opps... haha.

Mitch, Summer and I had our small X'mas dinner @ Mart Boulevard which is just next to our office bldg. Supposed to go somewhere else for dinner but poor Mitch gotta work. So we settled for this cosy Thai restaurant. Lovely place and lovely companions beat everything else.

Summer arranged a KTV session amongst my dpt and hers @ KBox Marina Square. Always enjoyed her company singing songs with moi. =)

Did I mention it's Buffet Dinner for the KTV session?! haha.. Look at the table filled up empty plates.. Not my doings.

And I've missed the StanChart Marathon... Well, not like I'm really hard on running. Anyway, there's always next year!!

Thank God nothing happened. Thinking back, it's so risky to be climbing down all the way to be so near the falls. Yet, I love it!!

Home Sweet Home

It feels superb to be back at the comfort of home.
Nursing a slight fever now but I should be fine soon.
I call it the "Post-trauma".
Just need to get it out and I'll be fine.

Will be recuperating at my home sweet home for a mth.
This's Day 2 and *yawnz* I can't imagine life without work/shopping/ gym for an entire mth.
And I'll prob be the last person in Singapore to see the Orchard X'mas Lightings. =(

But it's okie. I'll gather all my positivity and channel it in the right direction!
Soon, you all will hear my loud laughter again (coz my wound hurts when I try to laugh). =/
All visitors are most welcomed at my humble residence. Just don't bring junk food.
I'm condemned from all those for now.
And yes, I provide drinks (afterall, tap water's considered beverage too). kidding..

Let's just say I felt as though the world came crashing down on me a few days ago. But I picked myself up.

Whatever that's bound to happen will happen.
It's just a matter of time.
I just didn't think it's now.

I'm glad my sis's coming back. No, glad's an understatement.
When she asked "do you want me to come back? I can be here for you."
I lied when I said it's fine not to have her around.
I need her to be here for me.
Coz only when she's around then can I be the child of the family and her lil' sister.
and I don't need to put on a strong front and be shameful about being vulnerable.

I know I'll be fine...
It just erks to know that I've to be stuck in this situation.

It kinda sank into a depression then went uphill alil' then even better towards the end, but right at the end it kinda plunge to the bottom. Didn't even catch the movie with Summer. Sorry girl...

But anyway, that's the fun part of life, right? The unpredictability...

Sometimes I find my job unbearable and totally horrible.

But at times, I'm totally in love with what I'm doing.

Below is one perfect example of why I love what I'm doing and I believe in what I do...

Been involved in this pro-bono work for National Council Against Drug Abuse (NCADA) for this year's Party Drugs campaign "If you Play, you Pay". And I thought it's a uber cool campaign done by BATES (the creative agency) and the visuals totally rock.

The main gist is to create a contrasting effect between "Before" & "After" - before you play with drugs and the severe penalty you pay after you deal with party drugs. Hence, we came up with the idea of using bus-stop shelter panels to have one week of "before" posters and switch them with the "after" posters.

BATES actually engaged in this artist who specializes in spray-painting, to create a "street-art" effect on these posters and I totally love how the effect turned out to be. Thought it really played with the coolness idea and brought out the message perfectly.

Changi Airport T3

Last Fri noon, a few of my colleagues were down at Changi Airport newest baby- T3 for a site visit. Check out the new include. It's SOOOO big, they divided the terminal into 2 wings - North and South. Right now, only SQ's long haul flights (those flying more than 6 hrs) are gonna be at T3. Some other airlines are considering the offer, that we shall know pretty soon.

Anyway, my colleagues and I were joking about how we have to check in 2 1/2 hrs earlier next time when we're flying out via T3 coz it's so huge! Imagine they've got a skytrain that brings you from the North end to the South wing. hahaha. Can't wait for it to open - 9th Jan 2008!

This's the departure hall. I love the ceiling. Highly "tech-ky". they've got panels/ flaps that control the amount of sunlight coming into the bldg during the day-time. It's like a mega big Green House!

The Gate-Hold area for 5 aircrafts at the same time. Now it's set to be only for A380 aircrafts.

And this's the Baggage Claim area. See how they're putting in the greeneries everywher? And the tall wall is actually a waterfall. Love it!!

Just came back from the 4th Mkt Chalet! I'm so tired. Drained... But we didn't do anything this chalet. We just stayed back in our BIG bungalow and slack throughout. wahaha. Pics to be up!

Fireworks 2 days in a row.
The nation's celebrating... for me? hehe...

Thanks to the Mkt for the special arrangement, having the dinner at Harry Steakhouse @ Esplanade. 2nd year running that we celebrated 33 and moi birthday @ Esplanade, overlooking the fireworks. But this yr, we did it the cooler way, we had seats. =)

A good whole 12min, I can't stop smiling, watching in awe...
I love fireworks to bits........ *grinz*

So special thanks to the Mkt once again. Esp to those who don't fancy fireworks ahem Mr Ng and prob several others, for bearing with my special request. hehe. Promise next yr we shouldn't do this again for our bday celebration. No more at Esplanade, okie?
Oh, and thanx for the special shoutout at 12midnight. No matter how embarassing the moment was, I'm glad you guys were there with me at the stroke of 12. And also for the special escort to my car. Would have ended up running all the way from Esplanade to Suntec if not of you guys. haha...

My Special Day today? I gymed... yup! on my birthday yet I was determined to burn some fats. And what did I get in return? My name read out thru the PA System in California Gym "Calling out for Ms Elvina Wee, Pls proceed to the reception". Why?? Coz they wanna offer me a special package/ deal since I'm a August baby. "ermmm... no thanks. I'm rushing for class" So I whisked the Sales Manager after 3 min and he made my miss the 1st 5 min of class. arrrghh....

Anyway, tonight I forced my parents and Ah Boy to accompany me up to Mt Faber, just to catch the fireworks. So we sat ourselves at The Hills and waited more than an hr just to catch less than half of the actual fireworks. coz we could only see the "high shots". Despite the long wait; catching only 50% of the fireworks; the huge jam on our way down, I felt so warm and blissfully happy... It takes such a simple affair to keep me happy. And of coz the night ended up perfectly when I got to webcam with my sis. =)

Lately, I've been thrown into many situations which tested my reaction.
I've always loved surprises but now more so than often, I'm slow to react. Maybe it's an age issue. hehe.

It was a failed attempt to mambo last night. Luckily we went Timbre before Zouk. Watched EIC band performed, they were really pretty good. =) and thx to those who turned up even though they knew we'll probably nv get inside Zouk (based on their past experiences). Appreciate that! Despite no entry into Zouk, we had fun just chilling out. Definitely will be back to Timbre again.

Slightly more than a month. I'm counting down... to 16th Sept. Genuinely...

Last weekend I was at the Tree Top walk with CF and HM.
Such a freaking hot day to be doing any form of exercise. BUT I WAS THERE! hahaha. Rounding this up with pictures!

Despite it being quite a torture for me to finish the walk, I'm glad we ended the day at an amazing restaurant called Corduroy & Filch at Bukit Timah. The main course was good BUT I heart the desserts to bits... Oh my. Drooling at the mere thought of the apple crumbler and choc temptations... YUM YUM!

Caught the internal screening of Pixar's latest upcoming block-buster Ratatouille yesterday. No idea how to pronounce the title of this movie? Say along with me: Rat-a-too-ee. That should solve your problem. =)

More about the movie. The director of Ratatouille was the master behind "The Incredibles" and the crew were those behind Pixar Studio's amazing movies like "Cars", my personal faves "Finding Nemo" and "Monster Inc". Put these storytellers together, you get yet another fantastic creation "Ratatouille".

Actually, this's my 3rd favorite movie, 1st is Monster's Inc, then Finding Nemo.

The story's about this rat "Remy" who has huge dreams about being a 5-star chef. So unthinkable, right? I mean a rat becoming a chef? But somehow Remy manages to stumble across a 5-star restaurant which is undergoing some crisis and he strikes a deal with Linguini, a garbage boy. What kind of deal? TO BE A CHEF of coz. But HOW? That you gotta find out. =D

Personally, I felt that the animation had gone up another notch. The night-scene of Paris in the movie really took my breath away. It actually looked real...

Think this film's gonna be out on 30th August. Remember to catch it when it's out!! Meanwhile, check out the website!

We KTV-ed till 2.30am (okie, maybe just Jamie and I since the rest stayed till 3am). I think that's definitely a new record for me!! hehe... Korean dinner was delicious. Thanx to Mister Siwei who always had a way around with aunties. He totally swept ALICE off her feet. He got us so many free dishes and a good discount! You're the Man!! wahaha...

Miwa's gonna be around till the end of the month so for those who weren't able to make it for the outing yday (ahem miss tan), do book your slot with her fast. okie? =P

I've found the root of the problem to why my blog doesn't load properly. FLICKR! Notice the difference? This week had been a roller-coaster ride of emotions. More ups then downs. Life's not a bed of roses. Such is life, right?

Jamie's finally back! Caught up with her last fri tog with the others. Didn't know how come the intent of the gathering kinda got lost and most of the time, we were discussing about ahem... things related to moi. Sensitive topic, can't be elaborated here lest I get into trouble and I'll drag the rest of you down with me! and FYI, I laughed so much that night, I couldnt sleep till 2am. hmm... but then again, it could just well be the yuan yang. wahaha...

I learnt quite a few things last night. All thanks to CF - teacher-to-be. She highlighted several impt points. One of which, WE ARE OLD! It's been 11 years since we took PSLE. 11 FREAKING YEARS! To those who still think that drawing diagrams to solve problem sums are cool. Take this. The big word of the day is: SAKAMOTO! Apparently, it's this guy named Sakamoto who came up with a new theory and model that replaced the use of diagrams. Just draw lines and arrows, you solve your problem!
I made CF demo to me how to use this new model and boy was I totally amazed!! and then, CF also taught us some rules of phonetics and the story of "The Magical E". The stories she tell are always so exciting. I mean so much more compared to the rest of us white-collars. haiz... But given the fact that I can never survive as a teacher, I think I'll just stick to her telling me the stories and me listening to them. hehe.

My Weekend

Lovely weekend... Started off with Friday Night. Our lil' im-promtu dinner.
We ventured into the unknown and got ourselves a pleasant surprise, didn't we? hehe.

Then came Saturday when I gymed. 2 classes in a row after a long break.
Truth be told. My arms, butt, thighs and stomach are aching now.
But sweating it out always make me feel great!
Evening was spent with the Mkt to celebrate Siwei's Birthday @ Outback.

Sunday was family quality time. Starting with morning breakfast with the parents, then car-washing (oh my! I tink it's been almost a mth since I washed the car. whoops...).
Afternoon, we hit my aunt's place for a quick check up on my big aunt's leg condition. Thankfully she's recovering fast. =) After which, I went Vivo with my cousin for dinner and a lil' shopping.
MNG-ed but no damage done. funnily nothing caught my eye. hmmm... Side-track, I've my eyes set on this CK Jeans watch. Wait till I see it. hehe... Back to the main point, I'm glad I spent some time with my cousin today. It's always great catching up with her. =)
Been arrowed by my mum, cousin and aunt to accompany them to Xiamen this Sept. Should I?
I mean it's gonna be so.... boring. I'll rather save the money for my next trip. But duty calls... how?

This week's definitely not whizzing past fast enough. It's only Wed and I've got 2 more days to go before I hit the weekend. frustrated.

My sister just confirmed that she's coming back on the 20th July. So exactly one more month to go before she returns. Yes, I'm counting down. =)
She'll be back for 2 weeks. one week for vacation and the 2nd week, she had permission from her boss to work frm the singapore office. That way, she can spend more time with us.

She's been there for almost a year. But I felt as though she's been gone longer than that. Despite the fact that she's back quite often. Well, such is life. you can't control the speed of time.

Anyway, think I haven't mentioned that a few more of my NP girls are graduating this year, or rather, already graduated. Am so glad that they had all found their jobs so quickly. It's interesting to note the diversity of occupation within the group: 2 teachers, 1 engineer, 1 accountant, 1 air stewardess (to-be), 1 assistant RM, 1 insurance agent, 1 finance exec, 1 customer relationship exec, and 1 media exec ADD ONE UNDERGRADUTE (i have to put this in bold)! Think our plan to open a company tog will still work? I believe so... hehe.

Okie, you won't believe when I say where this is. But it's actually the 5th Stop on Mt Fuji. Don't look like it I know. I'm so disappointed coz we didn't get to sight the mountain at all. The tour guide kept saying it's too shy to see us. Argghh... and it's freaking cold up there. 4 Degrees! and it was raining and snowing at the same time! I was trembling when I rushed out, determined to take some pics.

Me in my yutaka. That night at the Mt Fuji hotel, we went for Onsen - Hot Spring. And "In Rome, do what the Romans do", we went into the Onsen the au natural way. hahaha. Summer, Mitch and I went in tog. The experience? Let's just say, it's quite different. =P

Summer, I and Mitch off for our BIG SHOPPING trip in Gotemba Factory Outlet. READ: FACTORY OUTLET!!! They had Adidas, Nike, FCUK, Muji, Kate Space, Gucci, GAP.... just to name a few.

I love this pic! It's at Odaiba. And overlooking the Tokyo Tower, the Rainbow Bridge and Statue of Liberty which they had loaned from the French. Evening sky was breath-taking. But it was kinda in a rush, luckily I managed to take a pic with Summer.

For a 1st try at the Tokyo subway, it's safer to try it in a group, like us! So big a group, surely won't go wrong. wahahaha.

This's really interesting. They actually reserve carriages for Women Only during designated times. Apparently, this's coz alot of men trying to take advantage of women during peak timings. smart! maybe spore should start doing this too!

LOOKOUT!! The Octopus scared the hell out of me when it dropped into the box. it's so scary!

Gerry, I and Val in Ginza. Val bought a Gucci wallet earlier on in Gotemba so she went to compare with the one in Ginza and I think she managed to save at least 30%! What a steal!!

Introducing Shibuya - a major shopping district for youngsters. Theres's about 6 crossings here in this intersection. Apparently, this crossings record the highest number of pedestrians crossing at the same time when the green man comes on. I totally believe it!

On every Sundays, Cosplay lovers will gather at Harajuku. And they love it when you wanna take pics with them. Just like this group of youngsters. They were so excited when I asked them if they're agreeable to take pics with me.

Of coz you get a fair bit of "special-looking" cosplay lovers, just like this interesting man who dressed up as a milk-maid. ahem...

While Joey and gang went to Disneyland on this day, Ariane and I opted out (since we've both been to Disney), and decided to roam around the rest of Tokyo, First, we went to Ikebukuro's Sunshine City. They had this indoor theme park called Namjo Town where they had serveral interesting sections.

1st, we went to the Gyoza City.

I had a try at this cute Toy Dispenser.

Next up! On to all girls' fave - DESSERTS!! yum yum...

Gan's Farewell

Is this some secret underground casino?!?!?!?!

Of coz NOT!! It was actually our MD - Gan's farewell party held at JustSteak at Riverside Point yesterday. Our company rented the whole restaurant for our private function. and coz Gan loves to gamble, the organizers actually set up our very own OMD Casino!!

There were 2 tables. The pic shows the table playing "Big or Small". And there's another table for "21 Points". We were all given $400 worth of chips to play at the tables and we had SO MUCH FUN!! FYI, we can't exchange the chips for real cash. duh. Everyone got so worked up and excited, I think the poor "banker" had a damn difficult time controlling the crowd. hahahaha....... We were literally shouting everytime we're placing the bets. I guess it totally didn't help that we had free flow of alcohol and hence after the many glasses of wine and/or beer, everyone was high naturally. hehe...

Summer and I with our leftover chips. ahh... We kinda lost everything in the end. hahaha..... such bad gamblers. =(

Such a memorable night!! When Gan was giving his farewell speech, alot of the EXCO, directors actually teared. =( Even though I've only been in the company for less than a yr, I can feel the utmost respect that everyone has for Gan. He's such an influential person in the industry. It's really our loss...

Moving the sad story aside, Summer and I are both looking forward to our Tokyo trip next week!!! aren't we girl?? YIPPEE!!

Okie, I think I'm alittle behind on the Europe pics. but better late than never, on 22nd May, we were in Venice. I remember I dun have much pics in my cam on Venice coz my Happy gave up on me, the batt went flat. Nonetheless, there's many many pics with the rest.

In Rome, I'll HAVE to post a pic of Trevi Fountain. Why? Coz it made my wish come true! When I was there back in 2004, I made a wish to return to Rome one day and I DID! So this time round, I made another wish to go back to Rome again. As I've said, I'll nv get sick of Rome. I like it there!

Austria's far too beautiful. Fell in love with St Goar. Looking back at the series of pictures taken at St Goar left me breathless yet again... After all, it's not my luxury to enjoy such fantastic view outside my doorstep everyday.

This spot marks the location of the highest bungee jump in Europe. Too bad we zoomed past it in the bus coach. Would have loved to stop and... take a look. hehe. Definitely for the fainted hearts.

I'm in a chirpier mood lately... lalala. Quite a few reasons to be happy for.

1) I've finally recovered 100% from my bronchitis. Hello ORANGES, SPICY FOOD, COLD DRINKS, ICE-CREAMS AND all things sinful. hehe. I've abstained from them for far too long and now I want them ALL!! Thanks for all those smses, calls, notes on the blogs, made me realize I've got friends who care. =) Even my colleagues were acting like my mum and stopping me from taking junk food. *touched*

2) The Sister's coming back in 2 MONTHS right after her Maldives trip. HURRAY!! As usual, I can't wait for her to come back. I'm getting used to the highs (when she's back or I'm counting down to her coming back) and lows (when she's leaving or just left). Too bad she can't be spending my birthday with me but I'm sure not gonna let her off w/o getting my present from her. I think I can start planning now.

3) I'm 9 days away from my holiday. YIPPEE... jumps about in joy. Totally cited!! I've much planning to do and I've NO IDEA where to begin! Thanks to my dearest mum and sis who decided to sponsor for most of my expenditures. I think they're worried that I feel awful having no money to spend and end up starving myself. Aren't they simply the sweetest? *muackz*

One year ago on 21st May 2006, I did my first water-rafting in Austria. I'm glad I made the right choice by going down despite it all...

A simple, yet relaxing weekend...

First caught up with the Mkt on Fri night. Most of the Europe gang were there, and we went through some of the highlights that happened a year ago. we just don't seem tired of going through it, again and again... hehe. yup! more trips to come. =)

Then off to gym on Sat with HM and her sis. Simply exhausted... My body isn't aching surprisingly. Probably din work hard enough. hehe...

And today, I did nothing but slack at home. Caught one epi of Prison Break 2. Thanks to Jamie who passed me her hard disk b4 she left for USA! I can slack on my dosage of Prison Break 2 and Ugly Betty! yippee...

And last time this year, I was at Munich, Germany... Here's my most memorable pic, dated 20th May 2006.

We stood at this spot for more than 15 min, staring at a clock going off at 5pm that ended with "a loud bang"... Punt intended. *winkz* and FYI, it was drizzling. We looked like idiots... haha. and we were hungry.

Time for Europe pic on 18th & 19th May 2006. We were in Amsterdam where it's more about sex and booze. since I can't possibly have anything about sex, I'll show pics about booze then. =)

Andy's expression was classic. Cause? The awful free alcoholic drink given on board the cruise in Amsterdam. It tasted worse than cough syrup. yucks!

One Year On

One year whizzes past too fast...

Last time this year I'm probably sitting on the plane, en route to my perfect Graduation trip. Either that, or I would have arrived in London, lugging my luggage around the Victoria Station.

One year on, I feel myself aging. Terrible feeling.
But to all the just graduates, GET OUT OF HERE!! (Spore)
Coz you never will have a better time of your life.
No longer a student but not yet a working adult.
Stuck in between phrases isn't necessarily a bad thing. Take it from me...

There's just too many memories. We took so many pics (more than 5gbs), there are just so many pics I wanna show you guys! I'm gonna make an effort to post some of my fave pics taken back in Europe. Day by day... hehe.

I know busy's not an excuse.

I learnt something new this morning. Prolonged coughing DOES cause damage.

Damage done. Diagnosis out. I've got Bronchitis.

I did a search for the definition.
From www.dictionary.com, here's what they told me.

acute or chronic inflammation of the membrane lining of the bronchial tubes, caused by respiratory infection or exposure to bronchial irritants, as cigarette smoke.

I thought the conversion with my family doc was damn hilarious.
It went like this:

Doc: How long have you been coughing? *flips thru my deck of appt history.*
Me: Don't know. Think about a month? Can't remember. Too long.
Doc: Then how come you nv seek help earlier?
Me: coz YOU WERE ON HOLIDAY!
Doc: Is it? When?
Me: See! You went on so many holidays, you don't rem which one. The one in April.
Doc: Wah! So you've been coughing for too long.
Me: Opps...

.
.
.
.
The diagnosis continues...

Doc: Have you been coughing in the middle of the night.
Me: Yup!
Doc: turns to Mum. how come your daughter wakes up in the middle of the night to cough and you don't know?
Mum: Coz we sleep in the air-con room, close door, how to hear?
Doc: Then you don't even bother to check with your daughter if she's okie? how about your husband? How come don't know the daughter's so sick?
Mum: coz, coz, coz... he's working. shuts up immediately.

the diagnosis continues again.

Just before the section finished, the doc asked again.

Doc: Are you going travelling soon?
Me: yah! How you know?!? Why? Is it I can't travel?!?
Doc: No! coz you won't come see me unless you're going to travel.
Me: WAH!!! in disbelief, shocked...

I have ONE gathering from this experience.
My family doc knows me TOO WELL. wahahaha...
